Stages of the Coaching Development Pathway

The four-stage progression through the development pathway is voluntary. The Coaching Convenors and relevant Age Group Coaching Mentors will support and guides coaches through the pathway.

Coaching Accreditation

The Netball Australia Coaching Framework [KD1] is a six-tier progression with each stage being accredited

Raiders All Stars requires all coaches to obtain their Foundation Coaching Accreditation prior to the commencement of the season. Apprentice Coaches do not, however, need to obtain this prior to the start of the season.

To start or update your accreditation, refer to Netball Australian’s new Netball Learning Centre: https://learning.netball.com.au for a catalogue of upcoming courses and locations. If you are having trouble with logging in you can email learning@netball.com.au

Alternatively, you can visit the Downey Park Netball Association website for the current list of coaching courses available.

NSG Coaching Facilitator Role

In 2024, Downey Park Netball Association (DPNA) made a change to the coaching role for the 7/8/9 years age group teams.

For teams in this age group, coaches are to facilitate the fixture games to assist with the development and learning of all players. Games will not have umpires, as this role will be replaced by both teams’ coaches facilitating the game instead.

The coaching facilitator role is not an umpiring role, but a mentoring role, allowing the coach facilitators to create a nurturing environment encouraging learning of the rules and game skills.

More information is available on the DPNA website. If you have any questions, please email NSGCoachingConvenor_Raiders@outlook.com

Knee Program

Knee injury prevention for Netballers to Enhance performance and Extend play

The K.N.E.E program is a national initiative for knee and ankle injury prevention developed at Netball Australia and we should all be implementing it as part of warm ups for both training and game days.  All parties; Netball Australia, Netball QLD and Downey Park are implementing all netballers to be making this a part of their 'netball routine’.

Principles of the KNEE program

  1. Take off

  2. Landing

  3. Deceleration

  4. Change of direction
